Cinnamon SunButter Puppy Chow (also known as Cinnamon SunButter Muddy Buddies, depending on your region) makes a delicious, EASY party treat. Or in our case… a random Sunday afternoon treat. 😉 It’s great for parties, hanging out at home, or anywhere in between!
This Cinnamon SunButter Puppy Chow combines cinnamon and white chocolate (my son’s favorite flavors!). It uses minimal ingredients and comes together quickly.
It’s a nice alternative to the classic Puppy Chow (or Muddy Buddies), which requires peanut butter and chocolate. My son is severely allergic to peanuts, so we use SunButter in its place. We enjoy creating our own flavor combinations, since SunButter has its own unique flavor.
Cinnamon and SunButter is a favorite combination around here, and white chocolate was the perfect addition to this fun treat. Use the new Top 8 Allergen free white chocolate chips from Nestle (and DF margarine), and it’s Top 8 Free treat for everyone to enjoy! We like to use Cinnamon Chex for ours, but any variety will work!

Cinnamon SunButter Puppy Chow (Egg & Nut Free)
Ingredients
- 6 cups Chex cereal (we like Cinnamon Chex and Rice Chex)
- 1/2 cup SunButter
- 1 cup white chocolate chips (6 oz)
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat SunButter, white chocolate, butter or margarine, and vanilla in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Stir, then heat in 15 second increments, stirring each time, just until white chocolate is melted and all ingredients come together smoothly.
- Immediately add Chex cereal and stir gently with a rubber spatula until cereal is evenly coated.
- Place bowl in refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to cool. Break up large pieces before next step.
- Add cinnamon and confectioners sugar to a gallon sized Ziploc bag. Add cooled Chex to the bag, and gently shake to combine, separating any remaining large pieces as you go. (Alternatively, you can skip the plastic bag and stir together in a large bowl).
- Pour finished Puppy Chow onto parchment paper or a large pan to finish setting. Once cooled, store in an airtight container for several days, or up to a week.
