Egg Free Waffles (Egg, Dairy, & Nut Free)

Egg Free Waffles - Dairy Free, Vegan, Gluten Free, top 8 free

These tender and crisp Egg Free Waffles are a traditional brunch staple! They are egg free as is, and can easily be made dairy free and vegan.

This recipe is versatile, and works very well with substitutions (much like my Fluffy Egg Free Pancakes, or Egg Free Cornmeal Pancakes). These allergy friendly waffles are easy to whip up, and the whole family will love them! You won’t even miss the eggs, I promise.

Be sure to also check out my Eggless Apple Cinnamon Waffles recipe!

These tasty eggless waffles are crisp on the outside, and tender and fluffy on the inside. Waffles were one of the first “fun” breakfast items I made for my infant son after learning about his food allergies (which were eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and wheat at the time – we’ve since been cleared of wheat… hooray!). I hadn’t gotten my waffle iron out in a while, and after successfully making “safe” egg free gluten free pancakes a few times, I decided it was time to try out some waffles. I was reminded how delicious waffles are on a leisurely weekend morning!

Egg Free Waffles (Egg, Dairy, & Nut Free)

These tender and crisp Egg Free Waffles are a traditional brunch staple. They are egg free as is, and can easily made dairy-free and vegan. This recipe is versatile, and works well with substitutions. They're easy to make, and the whole family will love them!
Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time15 minutes
Total Time20 minutes
Servings: 3 Belgian waffles
Author: Lisa Ngo, Safely Delish

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp baking powder (not baking soda)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups milk (or DF milk of choice for vegan/DF)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat waffle iron. In large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add milk, oil (or butter/margarine), and vanilla. Whisk or stir just until combined. Allow batter to rest and thicken for a minute or two.
  • Lightly spray waffle iron with cooking spray before adding batter.
  • Cook according to waffle iron instructions (my Belgian waffle iron cooks for about 4 minutes).
  • Carefully remove waffle. To remove, I pierce the waffle on the outer edge with a fork, and gently lift and pull from the waffle iron. Serve hot with toppings of choice.

Notes

For dairy-free/vegan version, simply substitute your favorite DF milk.

These turned out great! I made them with almond milk and had them in our waffle iron for 4 minutes. Nicely crisp. A bit sweet, so I think I will reduce the sugar to 2 Tbsp next time I make them. I have a grandson who is allergic to eggs and milk so this recipe fits in perfectly in our family recipe box.

Hello! I haven’t tried this myself, but I think it would work out all right. I add fresh blueberries to my pancake mix, which is similar, and it turns out great!

Thank you for this simple easy recipe! My 15 month old and i love it! I usually thaw some frozen berries, mix it with a little bit of maple syrup, and add on top of the waffles and mmm delicious.

Hello! I have only made waffles in a waffle iron, so unfortunately I don’t have advice on how to bake them. For pancakes, I’d recommend using my Egg Free Pancakes recipe instead (it’s very similar, only uses less oil). That recipe yields around 12 medium-sized pancakes.

Hi Gabby! Thank you so much for drawing this to my attention! I’m not sure how that disappeared from the recipe. It calls for 2 cups of milk – I just added it back in. 🙂

Hello! I’m not familiar with baking with collagen peptides. It looks like it’s pretty versatile, so it may work well! Since I haven’t used it, though, I can’t say for sure. Let me know how it works out if you do try it!
